Torquay United Stadium Experience 2024
On April 1st 2024 a group of 13 players from Select Soccer's Mini Boys Academy and Mini Pre - Academy squads, were given the opportunity to attend the Torquay United vs Weston Super Mare fixture at Plainmoor and have a stadium experience. It's safe to say the coaches and players in attendance had a great day out at our local professional club.
The experience saw our young players given the opportunity to have a penalty shoot-out on the pitch prior to kick off; stand in the tunnel as the players went back into the changing rooms for some high fives; and stand on the pitch as flag bearers as the players from both teams entered the field of play for kick off.
The youngsters then enjoyed watching the game from the Family Stand whilst trying to get some chanting going, and visibly loving the goals scored by Torquay (not so much the Western goals!). This was all topped off with Torquay United giving all the players their very own Torquay United shirt to get signed by several of the players, and a Select Soccer squad picture with the Man of the Match from the game.
At the end of the day, we handed back some very excitable and enthused players to parents. Thank you to Torquay United FC for helping to encourage young local players through these experiences, and a thank you to Torquay United Womens FC goalkeeper, Emma, for looking after our players.
Lastly, a massive thank you to our young players for representing Select Soccer, yourselves and your parents fantastically throughout the day. It was great fun!
